It feels as though I am living in realities that flow into one another, overlapping and interweaving. Something is flooding me and guiding me with the peace of clarity—an ever-strengthening certainty—while at the same time I am present in a world that is all-pervading and completely unpredictable. It is like walking along an unknown path covered in fog, with the calm steps of certainty born of trust. I know that if I focus on the swirling, all-concealing whiteness, it holds only fear, which would stop me. But if my focus is solely on that single step that exists in the present moment, then I say yes to the unexpected—and there, there is nothing but trust. The faith I have given myself gifts me with calm.
Yes, prices are soaring, monthly expenses have run wild, events arise that seem unsolvable, and hopelessness, worry, and fear have become companions to many. But there is something else as well. Within all this and behind it. Like a blank page on which the images of reality are printed. This is the certainty of creation itself—whole and unquestionable. The opportunity of the moment. For what? So that another moment may come. This is not necessarily a necessity according to the expectations of the mind, but a possibility for a new experience. What if this is enough? What if there is never anything else?
Wholeness, the radiance of consciousness, love, and respect all find their meaning in the present moment. We cannot love ourselves or others at some later time. We cannot be conscious on another occasion, and we cannot postpone integrity toward ourselves and others until tomorrow. Every journey into the depths of our mind’s past is also happening right now. We will not be more receptive to trust next year, for this surrender, too, belongs to the moment.
When the mind can no longer calculate the moment that has arisen from countless conditions, it gives up. And this is a great opportunity for something not yet experienced. We only have to allow it. To focus on the step, not on the fog. As the saying goes:
“Narrow is the gate and narrow is the way…”
With love,
Your traveling companion
